Sennosides is a diterpene derivative of the traditional Chinese medicine senna leaf. It is an effective part with relatively high content of senna leaf and is the main active ingredient of senna leaf for purgation and hemostasis. It is mainly derived from the leaves of the leguminous plant Cassia angustifolia Vahl. or the Cassia acutifolia Delile.
